Your spiritual beliefs are an important part of your life. Let’s integrate them into our work together.
When you get out of your intellect, a different type of wisdom emerges.
You connect with a deeper aspect of yourself, your true nature.
The core of who you really are is connected to love.
And at the core of all spiritual traditions is a belief in the healing power of Divine Love (however you define that).
Integrating your spiritual beliefs with your psychological awareness accelerates healing and transformation because it invites the healing power of Divine Love to flow to all the dark and frozen places inside of you that need light. There is nothing more powerful than that!
There has never been a more important time on our planet for you to remember who you are.
Our world needs your light, power, and unique gifts.
The more hope, healing, and illumination you create in your life, the more you bring to the world.
It is time to let your light shine and BE love.

You were born knowing your innate goodness… and that you are worthy of love.
Ideally, when you experience distress as a newborn or small child, your caregivers can soothe and reassure you.
This regulates your nervous system and reinforces that you are loved and safe.
You grow to trust and depend on others to meet your needs.
But sometimes, this doesn’t happen. That’s how (and when) you start to lose your awareness of your innate goodness, worth, and lovability.
This separation from who you truly are is the root of all your pain.
Research has shown that from the moment you are born, you are acutely aware of your caregiver’s stress because any upset in them is a possible threat to your safety and survival.
Even as a newborn baby, you begin to try to please your caregivers to minimize their stress and get their approval.
If this works, it reinforces these behaviors. If it doesn’t, you just try harder.
But there comes a time when no matter how hard you try, you can’t soothe your caregivers or the chaos in your environment. This is when you begin to make this faulty assumption:
There must be something wrong with me.
You began to doubt your value and worth.
To get our needs met and feel lovable, we take on different roles within our family.
Maybe you became the good child, the quiet child, the helpful child, the dependable child, or the overachiever.
Perhaps you were the angry child who expressed your discomfort about what was happening in your family, even if no one else acknowledged it. Then you probably were labeled the problem child.
You got caught up in other people’s perceptions of you and lost your true identity.
You became disconnected from the essence of who you truly are, which is a spark of the Divine.
You can’t really disconnect from who you are.
But layers of shame and unworthiness temporarily obstruct your connection to the light within.
This starts a never-ending cycle of wanting to prove that you are worthy, lovable, and good.
Deep inside, you know that you are. But you got caught in the trap of turning to the world outside of you to determine your value.
It usually takes a few decades before you realize this doesn’t work!
We live in a culture that is constantly striving for more.
And no matter how much we have, it is never enough.
Most of the stress in our world today is due to a lack of something, whether it’s time, money, power, health, or fill in the blank. You think to yourself, If I could just get _______________, then I’d be happy. But that thing doesn’t make you happy, because at best, it’s a temporary fix that leaves you wanting more. So, then you try harder.
All your striving in the world outside of you just makes you feel worse.

That’s why integrating your spiritual beliefs into counseling is so valuable.
Your spiritual beliefs help you connect with the light inside and remember that you are lovable, worthy, and good. They can help you stop striving so hard to prove yourself and discover what brings you meaning and purpose in life.
Most spiritual traditions also have a reverence for nature that reminds you that:
- Everything in nature exists in relationship. We are designed to need and depend on each other.
- You are part of nature and have the same beauty, power, and creative potential that nature has. Are you able to acknowledge the beauty, power, and creativity inside you?
- Everything in nature eventually gives up its form to serve a higher system, so it is your true nature to be of service to the well-being of the world around you. That means your presence matters. You have a purpose and the power to make a difference.
- When we get disconnected from nature, we’re disconnected from the very life force that flows through us, which is how we can justify depleting our natural resources and harming our planet.
Integrating spirituality into psychology restores your connection to your Self, nature, and the world around you.
It connects you to the Divine and reminds you that your true nature is Love.
It reminds you that Love is a Divine substance that dissolves and resolves anything obstructing its path.
When you integrate your spiritual beliefs into your psychological awareness, you invite Divine Love into your life, so healing happens more powerfully, with more grace and ease.
You’ll remember that you are loved, your presence matters and that you belong here.
Painful experiences may come and go, but they’ll never again define who you are or determine your value.
You’ll be naturally inspired as to how you can use the light inside you for good in the world outside of you.
Beauty, hope, appreciation, and joy will flow to every area of your life.
Let’s explore what this will look like for you.
In our sessions, I’ll help you use a combination of deep breathing exercises, meditation, and visualization to help you soothe and comfort yourself when you’re stressed
