FAQ

Where are you located?

I work remotely with people providing counseling throughout the state of Florida. If you are interested in consulting with me about the principles of my book, spiritual mentoring, or having me speak at your organization or group, I speak and consult nationwide.

You’ll just need a cell phone, computer, or tablet, along with a secure Internet connection, and you’ll get right to my virtual waiting room.

Do you accept insurance?
I do not take insurance.
How do I get started?

Contact me by phone at (813) 336-2173.

We will set up a free 15-minute consultation to explore if we’ll be a good fit.

Once we commit to working together, we will choose a weekly (or biweekly) recurring appointment time for our sessions. You will get a text reminder 24 hours before your session. Please text back to confirm.

If you do not receive an appointment reminder, you are still responsible for remembering your appointment.

How does online counseling work?

Online counseling is very convenient and eliminates the stress of getting stuck in traffic or looking for a place to park.

Once you schedule an appointment, you will be sent a link. There is nothing you have to download. When you click on the link, it will bring you to my virtual waiting room. You have to allow your device to use your microphone and camera. Once I see you have checked in, I can start our session.

If you are feeling hesitant… I get it! But clients end up loving this experience and appreciate the time it saves.

Here are some tips to make the most of your online experience:

  • Use a computer, tablet, or phone connected to a strong Internet connection.
  • Find a quiet, well-lit, indoor, private space. Close windows if there is noise outside and turn the music off.
  • Prop your device up so that you don’t have to hold it. When you’re hands-free, you’ll be able to focus more on the session, and I’ll be able to see you better.
  • If you join in from your car, please make sure you are parked (never driving). Some clients sit in a parked car during their lunch break or as a way of getting some privacy in a busy family home.
  • Whatever your location, make sure you have good cell service.
What is counseling like with you?

My clients tell me that I am a good listener, compassionate and kind. When you come to counseling, I want you to get results and experience relief and soothing in every session. So, from the beginning, we’ll practice treating yourself with compassion and loving-kindness because this is the foundation for healing to occur.

Holistic counseling means we will do experiential exercises to explore the world inside of you and not just talk about it! This might include deep breathing exercises, visualization, mindfulness, and somatic awareness techniques. Please visit My Approaches and Specialties pages to learn more about it.

Am I allowed to ask you personal questions?
Certainly! I understand that you want to know more about me to feel comfortable. Since each counseling is time you’ve set aside for your healing and well-being, the focus will be on you. But occasionally, I share some experiences from my own life if I think that may be helpful because I’ve used everything I use as a counselor in my own life and healing journey. I never ask a client to do anything I haven’t done myself.
How do I make a payment?
I accept all major credit cards, and you will be charged the day of your appointment. You may also pay for counseling using your HSA or FSA card.
What are your hours?
My office hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 6 PM Eastern Time.
How long are sessions?
Sessions last approximately 50 minutes.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel an appointment, I require a full 24 hours’ notice via text or email. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be billed for the full session rate.

If you are scheduled for an appointment on Monday, please cancel by the Friday before.

If you are more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, it counts as a missed appointment (unless you have an emergency).

With whom do you work?

I welcome all adults seeking to increase their self-esteem, heal from trauma, improve their relationships, overcome addictive behaviors, navigate through grief and loss, and explore the connection between the emotional and physical pain and symptoms in their body.

I welcome all clients from culturally diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders, and religions. I am committed to antiracism and am an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I’m also committed to exploring, discovering, and transforming my beliefs and looking for ways I may unconsciously collude with any system, paradigm, structure, practice, or body of work that knowingly or unknowingly harms any member of BIPOC communities.

I also work with adults who want to explore and deepen their connection to The Divine… in a way that aligns with their personal spiritual beliefs and practices.

With whom do you NOT work?

I don’t see anyone under 18 or new clients with active suicidal ideation.

I don’t see anyone who is in an active state of substance dependence that is causing them harm. Once you are in recovery, I can help you explore and heal from the root cause of addictive behavior.

Is our work together confidential?
Yes. I am in full compliance with all HIPAA best practices.
If I need you, how do I get in touch?

Please email or call me, and I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Please do not text me with confidential information, but feel free to text me for appointment-related matters (e.g., if you are running late or need to cancel).

For all emergency matters that need immediate attention, please call 911 or visit your local emergency room.
