Amy Rose, LCSW

Here is my pledge to you and the values that are the foundation of my practice.

You deserve a respectful, nurturing environment where you feel safe to explore the issues that matter to you. Whether it’s low self-esteem, trauma, grief, substance use, relationships that keep falling apart, or feeling unfulfilled and wondering what your purpose is, I hold your trust in me as a sacred gift. I’ll strive to make sure you feel seen, heard, understood, and appreciated at all times.

You can curl up in your favorite place at home (or in nature), sip a cup of tea or coffee, and explore what matters to you.

One of the great things about online counseling is that we connect via screen, so I’ll come to you!

There’s no stress of getting stuck in traffic, rushing to find a parking place, or sitting in my waiting room (maybe running into someone you know). Online counseling is safe, confidential, and saves you time!

Every part of you is welcome here.

Do you feel like parts of you are unlovable?

Shame makes us want to hide and keep parts of ourselves hidden in the dark. But healing happens when we bring things to light and allow compassion and loving-kindness to melt the frozen places inside of us.

Here, you don’t have to be ashamed. You don’t have to hide.

Together, we’ll create an environment where you feel safe to explore the world inside of you.

Your needs are unique. What seeds do you want to plant in your life?

You plant a seed in darkness because it activates its inherent capacity to reach for the light.

This means you need dark moments in your life because they’re the soil that allows new life to sprout.

All of us have those dark moments – those experiences that break our hearts and make us doubt the goodness of life.

In our Instagram-perfect world, it’s easy to compare what you experience inside with the posts you see from others on the outside. Nothing activates shame and loneliness faster than this!

Reaching for the light is how all things grow.

Experiencing dark moments is what makes you reach for the light, grow, and heal.

There is nothing wrong with you. You aren’t broken and don’t need to be put back together.

You are innately good. Your true essence is a spark of light that has the power and resources stored inside it to dissolve and resolve all your mental, emotional, and spiritual struggles.

Remember the wisdom of the rose.

Everything you need to know about your true nature you can learn from the energy of a rose.

With its roots planted deeply in the earth, a rose emerges from the soil, reaches for the light, and offers its beauty and majesty for all the world to see.

It doesn’t step on another rose to compete for resources and doesn’t shrink away like it’s taking up too much space. A rose naturally trusts in its goodness, accepts the part it plays in the seasons of life, and offers its gifts for the world to enjoy.

You might think a rose is fragile, but it’s hardy and strong. Its roots dig deep and weather the most bitter cold and winter ice.

Then, in the spring, a rose emerges again: older, wiser, more vibrant, and ready to bloom once more.

You’re like this, too!

Compassion is essential for healing.

Being compassionate toward yourself is essential for understanding and coping with painful experiences and a dark night of the soul.

Compassion also awakens your desire to help others, which the energy of nature can teach us. Everything in the natural world exists in relationship, and there is no concept of separation or isolation.

Everything in nature also gives up its form to serve a higher system. Since we are part of nature and the natural order, it is natural for us to live in relationship with our community, allow for change that serves the common good, and reach for the light to sustain our world. It’s natural to be compassionate.

It’s time to remember your true nature!

There are gifts buried in your pain.

Counseling is like an archaeological dig, where we uncover buried treasure inside of you.

Think of your dark moments as diamonds in the rough.

A diamond is formed in the darkest places of the earth and results from intense heat, stress, and transformation. When you first discover a diamond, it is covered with an ugly film, so you have to polish it for a very long time and appreciate it for its future value.

So, too, are the dark moments of your life!

When you have painful experiences, it’s hard to see their beauty or appreciate their potential value.

But over time, that ugly film gets polished away, and you come to appreciate how much you’ve learned and grown. You come to appreciate who’ve you become as a result.

And like any precious gem, this wisdom has great value.

A bit about me and my background.

I was born the youngest of 7 children…

… and my mother would say I came out of the womb a social worker. Growing up with nine people in my family made me a keen observer of human nature, and I think this prepped me to become a therapist and a writer later in life.

I decided to venture far away for college…

… so I went to Tulane University in New Orleans and then completed my master’s in clinical social work. Becoming a therapist felt like something I was born to do, and that’s what I did after graduating from the Gestalt Institute of New Orleans.

Since then, I’ve lived in five states and spent the last 25 years of my life as a social worker and holistic counselor, helping clients navigate through life’s challenges and transitions. I love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else!

I spend a lot of time writing…

… under my favorite oak tree – nature is a big source of inspiration for me. It led me to study Taoism, which is the practice of living in alignment with the natural order and the seasons and cycles of life. Over the years, I’ve explored different spiritual traditions and mystical healing principles as part of my journey, and I’ve incorporated these into my work. I’ve also had my own dark night of the soul, so I have deep empathy for human suffering and want to serve as a channel for love, hope, and healing in our world.

What I’ve come to understand about healing…

… is that we can’t do it alone. Everything in nature is interconnected and exists in relationship, and we are part of nature. We were born to live in relationship with one another… and as part of a larger community. But our world today is rampant with disconnection, separation, and isolation, which is why I created Delight The World.

One of the best examples of people living in community…

… and connected to nature, and the light within, is Findhorn Community and Ecovillage in Scotland. This is my spiritual home (virtually), and it rests on the principles of inner listening, co-creation with nature, and the idea that all work is love in action. These principles inspire and guide my life’s work.

Let’s work together so we can identify and heal the patterns that are keeping you stuck.

You deserve to feel better about who you are and what you’re capable of, so you can improve your relationships, use your gifts in the world, and experience more joy in your life.
